Another wonderful WoHeLo chicken barbecue and
annual meeting of the Hawthorne Community Association!
It was a very successful chicken barbecue in August, 2023! It was held at Camp Wohelo and many thanks to the Van Winkles for their gracious hospitality. The weather was beautiful and there were 72 attendees – three more than last year! What a wonderful way to finish out the summer. Everyone had a good time and there was plenty of good food to eat.
Our friends Norma and Alan Jepson along with their friend Linda visited all the way from England to re-visit Nataniel Hawthorne’s Boyhood Home. Norma is a Hawthorne expert! They attended the barbecue, loved the food, the lovely setting, and talked with many people. Norma graciously presented a framed, antique map of Maine featuring “Hawthorne’s Old Home.”
